What is the difference between pond plants and aquarium plants?

What makes a pond plant a pond plant and what makes an aquarium plant an aquarium plant? We get questions all the time about what plants can be put in freshwater aquariums. The answer will vary by the size of the aquarium, the amount of light, the water temperature, and personal preference. The most common plants that are used in both aquariums and ponds are submerged oxygenating plants, but the reality is that with the right conditions most "pond plants" can be used in aquariums. We'll get into more specifics in some of our future posts.

  2. Some companies like Nycon make special nets that you can set your waterlilies in to protect them from Koi. Something like that might keep the turtle out, but there is a possibility that the turtle could climb over and still eat the lily.
